Viking Launch FAQs

Have questions about Viking Launch?

Please email us at VikingLaunch@wwu.edu and someone will get back to you.

Yes. The only way to have Viking Launch students move in early and establish a close-knit campus community, is to house all VL students in the same dorms. In addition, these are the only two residence halls that will be opened and staffed early enough for Viking Launch.

Viking Launch students can choose to live in the Fairhaven Complex or Kappa Hall in the Ridgeway Complex for Viking Launch AND the academic year. There are not any temporary/Viking Launch-only housing options on campus. Follow these links to learn more about Fairhaven Complex and Ridgeway Kappa.

If you would like to participate in Viking Launch, have also been accepted into the WWU Honors College, and want to live in the Honors Cluster in Edens, then please contact University Residences to determine if this is an option for you. You can also choose to live in one of the Viking Launch residence halls (Fairhaven or Kappa) for the 2022/2023 academic year, and still participate in the WWU Honors College program, if you’ve been accepted.

The cost of Viking Launch is $500 and includes tuition for the course (as long as your total Fall credits, including Viking Launch, don't exceed 18 credits), and all of your lodging, meals and recreation activities during the week of Viking Launch. The only other cost will be the specific course fee for the Viking Launch course you select, which varies by course ($0-$90, depending on the activities or supplies for that course, please see the course descriptions for course fee information).

Yes, you can, as long as there is space available in the VL seminar you want to register for.

It is not recommended that you wait. There are limited spaces available in Viking Launch and in specific courses, so waiting until one of the Fall Advising & Registration sessions in August may be too late. July 1 is the priority application deadline for Viking Launch; applications will be accepted on a space available basis after July 1. As noted above, you can always request to switch your Viking Launch course after your summer Fall Advising & Registration, as long as there is still space available in that course.

Yes. Viking Launch seminars count as elective credits.

Yes, you will receive undergraduate credits for the successful completion of your Viking Launch FYE course.
