    Introduction to the scientific study of language and the various subfields of linguistics, including how language is acquired, how it varies across time and space, and how it is used in different social contexts.
  • Music 105, Survey of Popular and Rock Music, (Todd Smith ) 3cr, HUM, CRN: 44139
    Open to all students. An introduction to the genres, forms and composers of popular music within the framework of a study of its historical and cultural context.
  • Seminar 101, Perspectives on Learning, (Staff) 2cr, CRN: 40544
    An introductory seminar offering an exploration of academic content and essential questions within the liberal arts and sciences tradition. Includes embedded instruction in academic skills and use of campus resources pertinent to exploration of the FIG cluster theme. Concludes in a formal paper or academic presentation.
